lost in space

Hi, That's me today, lost. Changed alternator and voltage regulator on my 1986 F250, 6.9 diesel lariat. Cranked her up, saw smoke from cab in the starter solenoid area. See no smoked wires or parts. Voltage present at the starter, nowhere else.... Cant see anything burned but except for the full voltage at the starter no where else....Any ideas?

Thanks, Mike
