95 f350 460 automatic gear selector question?
I parked my car overnight and the next morning I jumped into my truck and turned my key but my truck would not turn over. All my power was working in the truck so I knew it was not my battery and my starter is new. So I went under my truck and moved my gear selector, it was a little loose. That fixed my problem I guess my truck was not in park so did not crank. But now my automatic shifter is working properly again. Here are some pictures of my selector. My question Is that my gear selector looks a little too close to the edge of the rod or is this its normal position.

I had this exact problem after i had to put a whole new shift linkage in my truck. The easiest solution is follow the linkage up underneath your dash by the pedals and youll see a place where the linkage comes to a plate with two brass hex bolts on
it. Tighten those as snug as you can. That should make gesr selecting a little tough but it will loosen with time.

The rod being there shouldn't cause you any trouble, there is a plastic clip a little down the line where you can tighten up the linkage if you want to, but anyway, I would actually consider replacing the linkage if it's too old. A broken linkage can actually make you break the shifter tube trying to get the truck in a gear (I speak from experience), and it's quite a bit more involved and twice as expensive.

Wires look cut then spliced together, might wanna look into that. Can't make out wire colors but kinda appears as someone might have bypassed Neutral/Park interlock function right there at the MLPS.
Shifter cable end is in its normal position on the post, that pin has a grove in it the grommet in the gable loop locks into.
Model year is known for shift cable bracket coming loose up at steering column end, couple of torx bolts retain it to the end of the shift tube, worth a minute if for nothing else verify they are tight.
Looks like a connector unplugged too (just behind the two wires twisted together in the image..... those two wires are twisted together right?) but hard to say for sure picture tad unclear, didn't mention much about truck though and connector size/shape pin count doesn't ring a bell at the moment that location either, possible its something else and not a connector too!
