2004 f150 died, restarted VERY hard
Hello,
I have an 04' 4.6L SCrew w/over 260K. Nothing other than general maintenance. Plugs, coil-over plugs, fuel filter, etc, have all been replaced over the years, none recently.
My truck started normally this morning and I drove 3 blocks to daycare and left it running to warm up. I came out 2 minutes later and the trucked seemed to be idling oddly- it it seemed to be going back and forth from normal idle to very low idle. I doubt the engine was at operating temps.
It died just as I got in. I tried to restart- got a fast crank, but did not start. I waited 30 seconds and cranked a bunch again- nothing- fast crank, no fire. I waited maybe 2 minutes and tried again- this time I got a bit of firing, but not enough to start. the next time I tried I got more firing and it started.
It ran normally after that- no lights, gauges normal. It started and ran fine at noon. Any thoughts? I do have a code reader, but have not plugged it in, yet.
Thanks -jim
