How do you install engine lifters?
Currently doing arp headstuds on my truck and i thought i should just put in new lifters at the same time. how do you install them?
i have the heads off now (cab on, engine in), but before i just remove bolts i want to make sure it wont mess up the timing if i just drop new ones in.
also does the camshaft have to be in a certain position to install them?

The reason being is that you have to get the branch tube out of the way so
that you can pull the back lifters.
So to do that little job you need to pull the transmission so you
can remove the rear cover. Your will also need the rear seal tool
to remove and install the seal.
I can post some PDF if you want me to later just let me know if you want them.

Yah but there is no branch tube over the front lifters. I was planning on changing the front 2 sets and if possible half of the rear two since the tube is in the way. (4 sets total, 4 lifters per set). for preventative maintenance while i have it open because I have heard of lifter failures.
I'm also changing my pushrods to the updated 6.4 chromoly pushrods (9.800")

That low on the miles and I would not worry about lifters.
The one guy I talked to around here said he likes to R&R
than if he is in that any time around or after 200K.
If you want you could pull a set and see how the rollers
look and how they feel. No flat spots of sloppy bearings.
The other thing I have heard but can't get any verification
on is it the back set that tend to be the ones that go first.
But with out any proof that is just a rumor.
I would go ahead and install the new pushrods.

i already have 3 sets (4 lifters each) from ford.
ill remove them this weekend to check them out. just hope they don't spring up in my face. lmao
most likely just replace the front 2 sets and see how the used ones look.
just to clarify, removing them and replacing them (with the camshaft in any position) won't mess up the timing correct?
