Hard to start.

my 96 7.3 is giving me a little bit of trouble....
In the mornings she wont start (unless if I keep her plugged in over night) and I can sit there try to turn her over and all it does is crank. I can sit there and turn the key on and off so that the glow plugs will warm up but I don't think its doing much of anything, so im looking at two options here. glow plugs themselves are bad or the gp harness is bad. any suggestions of what I should look for and check? I kinda need the truck being my daily driver back and forth to school. I'd hate to burn up the starter.

Welcome to FTE! First thing I'd check would be the GP relay. That's usually the culprit.

Test the gpr. One big post is hot all the time. With the key on, there shouldn't be more than .3v drop between the two big posts.

You can test the gp's too. The outer pins on the valve cover gaskets are gp's. Test each one to battery ground. Should be about 1 ohm each.
