Old steering wheel on idiotic column???

I would like to keep the original look of my '63 interior but I have upgraded everything under the hood, and with it, the r&p of a crown Vic swap. My question is has anybody else tried to keep the original steering wheel with a Ididit or flaming river column? What is necessary? Is there a adapter kit? Any advice or links would be great. I searched the threads and found plenty of ways to hook up the column, but not the wheel to the column. Thanks!

Do you really want to keep the original 18' truck wheel, especially with power R&P?

There's a small (as in even doesn't list a website ) company that advertises in Drive magazine a 15'' repop of 56-57 Ford steering wheels ( again, no listing of what so I'm guessing Thunderbird ) that looks from the tiny picture in the ad would look good in a Slick.

Ad claims wheel will fit Flaming River and Ididit column.

Only contact from the ad is a phone # 559 595 0100

Good luck in your search and posts any links you find, I'm also on the look for a vintage appearing 15" wheel that will fit a aftermarket column.

Just want to keep as much original as I can. Sleeper under the hood kind of deal. I'll set the column back a ways, but yeah I'd like the big wheel to stay. Thanks for the number. I'll call them tomorrow. If they have an adapter for the 15 maybe it'll fit the 18

Maybe your could grind the end of your original steering shaft to fit the double D steering joint and hook it up to the R&P using your original column....

Because I do want to use my old wheel it is a monster. So I wanted the tilt for clearance reasons. Like everybody says I'm not driving a NASCAR

One other thought...

Have you talked with Ididit? They make Ford specific columns... I wonder if the inner shaft on your existing column could be swapped out with one with a Ford spline at a reasonable cost.
