Radio/Interior Lights Electrical Gremlin

Radio/Interior Lights Electrical Gremlin
Symptoms:
What made this happen?
Help please. I can't handle having the stupid lights on while driving. And I'm really worried there is a much bigger issue
Keys out
When door is opened, radio powers up and interior lights come on
When door is shut, radio and lights remain powered for ~5 minutes and then turn off. Not a consistent time. Just seems to be around that amount of time
Keys In
Motor running, interior lights are on no matter if door is shut/open
Motor off, when I lock the doors using the remote, the radio and interior lights go off. So luckily it won't drain the battery at night for now

1. Penetrating Oil on door latches
2. Multiple Door slamming
3. WD-40 on door latches
4. More door slamming
5. Pulled all relays out in the fuse box -> nothing found...no change

What made this happen?
Wife borrowed the X to get Girl Scout cookies...400 boxes or so. She said the issues started when she shut the rear hatch doors. Swears she didn't do anything besides open, then shut the rear hatch.

Might not even be the read door at fault. i don't have any diagrams for the wiring
in that year. But in the newer ones they have the power saver relay buried in the
CJB under the steering wheel. It's not a serviceable part.
Maybe try banging around there to see if anything changes.
Have you had any rain that may of leaked from the front glass?

In the newer trucks yes the control of that is in the cluster.
Not sure if the battery saver function is also the same place
in you year. Most likely it is. Try un plugging the cluster and
see what happens. It should take out the radio and lights.
Then the next question is why. I would check for wire chafing
in the harness up to the cluster.

Been doing some troubleshooting to try and narrow it down.
noticed that even the Power Windows are powered when the key is removed
I've traced power all the way back to the K333 relay and K115...it even powers the radio later on down the path
so I guess you were right about it being the Inst Cluster Yahico...damn! Wonder if that is something I can solder...or need to send off

Not sure where in the lineup it is but that sounds like an accessory delay
relay acting up. Now is that the same thing as the Batter Saver Relay.
On a place to send it to I at one time was doing some research into
just that. I am not sure where my notes went. But there are a few out
there that do cluster service.

I wished there was an easy way to say with a good %
that the cluster was the problem. Id getting down to a
more educated guess at this point and that is better
than throwing parts at it as in a blind guess.
Have you scanned for any codes? I think if you had
access to an IDS that could fill in all the blanks.
One other option is do you have a local speedometer shop
that you could maybe get to scan the cluster?

I grabbed the VSM out of a 2004 F-250 CrewCab.
the replacement took forever and was a nasty adventure in torture
and my symptoms got much much worse. nothing would turn off, and the key beeping noise went off whenever the key was in the ignition
so I put the old VSM back in. I guess I'm leaning more towards the Instrument Cluster now. and I need to dig into the electrical schematics
