Power Seat Troubleshooting

My 2003 F350 drivers side power seat stopped going forward. All other functions still worked. It slowly died. Sometime it would take three or more presses forward to get it to move but it would work. It finally quit all together a week ago.

Based on what I read on here I decided to take the switch apart. Before I took the electric connection apart I accidentally touched the copper part of the switch causing a small spark. Now the switch does not work at all.

I checked the circuit and replaced with another and that did not fix the issue.

Curious if I may have fried the wiring or the seat motor?

Not sure what to troubleshoot from here? I may dig into the passenger side controls and see if they match (I didnt look while I was out there) and may be swap the switch to see if that will work.

Any thoughts?

That would be my guess.

Yeah, the fuse was checked with another 30 amp fuse and the seat control still didn't work.

I will have to dig into it further tomorrow.

Thanks

You need to check fuses for continuity, rather than swapping, it's possible you are swapping in a failed one. Should measure some resistance, not infinite resistance, which means it's blown. Same way you check a wire. If cheers it's idea works, then you just have wiring and the switch to look into.

Yeah, it was the fuse. Last night, I swapped the bad fuse with the one from the passengers side seat which I verified worked (so I knew it was good).

I left the passengers side fuse in the drivers side overnight and just went out to the pickup and tried the switch and it worked. Not sure why it didn't work last night when I tried it.

Either way I had a spare fuse and put that in and now my seats function as they should. I cleaned up the contacts on the switch while it was out. Seems to have helped functionality of the forward position which was the issue in the first place.

Thanks
Thad
