open door sensor malfunctioning

The "door open" light is stuck on and the truck thinks one of them is open. I went around and slammed all the doors and it went off. Didn't think anything of it till we went on a road trip and now its stuck on. No door slamming is helping. Any ideas on how to unstick the sensor whereever it is?

My guess is the culprit is the rear hatch window. How are your shocks on the window?

If its the rear hatch window, find some Wd40 and spray the latches real good on both sides.

It gets really dirty back there and weak shocks don't help with all the slamming.

If that's not it, Wd40 all the door latches. That's where the sensors are for an open door. (on the doors themselves)

Brand new shocks, just installed. I just doused all latches with wd40 and open/closed them all a bunch of times.....no luck, light is still on.

On my first it took a couple weeks with WD40 till it went away. Now with my ex I am on round 2. Did some dusty trail riding and it is all crapped up again. Maybe this will be a yearly thing for me.

OHHHH that's where they are! I figured they were internal with the latches. Those just looked like snubbers or locators to me. I'll spray those today and retry.

...those are just the alignment tabs, there is no electrical switch on either end (try removing the two screws, you'll find no switch connections behind them).

The switch is integrated into the latch assembly. Hit it with WD-40 and open/close it a few times, rinse and repeat.

...maybe the alignment pins were putting just enough pressure to make the switch freak out and the WD40 allowed it to seat with less resistance?

I know I hit the latch only (and the barn door latches just in case), did the open/close dance a few times, sprayed it one more time and it cleared the issue for me.

I pulled one of those off once to see if I could pass a wire through the body at that point and found no wires on the back of the female end.

i've sprayed the alignment tabs and the latches all up and open/closed quite a few times. Right now it's random. More often than not, it's a false open. But occasionally it reads closed. I'm hoping it just works it's way loose after a few days driving and clears up. I'll find out by this weekend as tomorrow we start our return trip from northern CA to Northern WA.

Make sure the actual rear hatch handle is pushing all the way down. Mine sticks up from time to time and gives me the open door signal. I really need to give it a good cleaning as all the dirt and dust makes it stick.

Maybe follow up with a little compressed air, then WD-40 again? Could be that the actuator is just too far gone to save. There are threads on replacement with pics...I think there may be one in the tech sticky.

Mine does this 75% of the time the rear hatch is open, figured out it was the right side so now when I close it I bang my fist right over the latch on the right side (on the outside of the glass so I push it harder as it latches) just as it comes together and almost always turns the dome light off. On occasion just the pressure of shutting another door may make it act up and I'll have to go around and open/shut the hatch with my little love tap. Hoping it will get exercised enough to go away on it's own. Seems that's happening all over my EX as just last night it decided it would warn me I didn't have my seatbelt on....hadn't been doing that, wish THAT feature would have stayed inactive...it's persistent!
