Adding Grab to 1996 F-250

I have a 96 F250.

I'd like to add a grab bar to the passenger side to create a hand-hold to help my wife climb in the truck. No Problem on driver's side - grab the steering wheel. But on passenger side, nothing to grab on to that gives her a secure hand hold.

I'd appreciate ideas, how-to's, parts suggestions, etc.

Right now I'm just not sure how or where to start.

Thanks!

I would go to the local junk yard and see if you can find any off of another vehicle that won't look to bad and maybe match your interior color. Attach it to the A pillar. Roof support between door and front window. Make sure to use proper self taping screws to get it to sink into the metal. Depending on how much she pulls on it you may want to fabricate something with more anchor points.

Hopefully someone who has done this will post picks for some ideas.

I had to do this a while back for my wife. I purchased a universal handle from the local auto parts store (HELP/ Motormite line). They come in black. I dyed it blue to match my interior and mounted it above the passenger door. Works like a charm and have had no problems with it working loose. I did buy an extra a pillar trim piece from the JY to drill out for this. This way I still have the original one if I ever decided to remove the handle and go back to the stock look.

NOOOO. Do NOT grab the steering wheel to get yourself into the truck. You will wreck the steering column doing that.

Yup, those little column bearings don't take nicely to that. Somebody did that in my old F-250 and that wheel flopped like a catfish when I got the truck.

I didn't think that sounded like a good idea. The handle on the other hand, may be a brilliant way to shut my wife up.
