Hey all -

I have searched and searched today on what my truck is doing but for the life of me can't find an answer. This is my 03 F250 6.0 truck.

I went to move a horse today and hooked up the trailer, warmed the truck, added horses and off I went.

When I started the truck I had pushed the Tow/Haul button and it was on and not flashing. As I got up the highway a few miles I noticed that the Tow/Haul light was off so I pressed the button again and nothing, no light would go on.

I got the horse where is needed to go and took a look at the truck, the scanguage 2 was showing one code P2285, that is an ICP code and I knew it was there and was expected, was actually going to fix that tomorrow.

So now I can start the truck and idling in park I can press the Tow/Haul light and it will go on, as soon as the truck is put in gear it goes out and will not come back on.

I am going to go out and look at fuses, are there maybe codes that the scanguage can not see ?

I can not find any other instances of this happening and I have been searching for a couple of hours.

Im Stumped ... anyone ?

Take the plastic cover off the steering column. Inspect the wires where they enter the shift handle. The wires are damaged or broken. Either fix the wires or replace the shift handle. A new handle can be had at a dealer for around $70.
