Thanks Nate! Yeah, my thoughts exactly. It could not have happened at a better place...my dad's driveway!

Made the same decision when the radiator had issues on the Land Rover I used to have.

Yeah, the last thing I want is to be stuck here for a period of time or anywhere else. Not to mentio nit takes time away from family with messing around trying to fix it right. If my Pops was a mechanic and liked wrenching and having beers, then fine, but it turns out he just likes the beer part.

Yeah Glenn, it split at the flange. Apparently, whoever messes with it before put it in there crooked and just rigged it to work! They put in a new fitting and fashioned a new line. Good as new. I still checked for leaks though....not trusting enough I guess. They did nice work and even cleaned the underside where it had sprayed fluid everywhere. No one does that!

Thanks Bill! My thoughts exactly! The side of the road watching pink fluid literally spray like a garden hose would probably do me in...at first anyway! LOL

in the end having a shop you can trust to do good work especially when many miles from home ...well thats a good thing.its not like you brought tools to build trans lines in your box. i sure would not have brought that mydelf. its gonna turn out just fine.
Thanks man! Appreciate the words of encouragement! It turned out great. Spent an extra day with family and just hung out. Stayed inside from the cold and ate well. That's about it.

On another note, the very first thing I have noticed, and my wife did too, is that it shifts way smoother than before. I am wondering if the kinked and bent line was not allowing good fluid flow or was building pressure more than it was supposed to? I didn't want to overthink it, but it is really smooth, not just my imagination. Kinda crazy but I'll take it I guess.

That's the return line and I'll take a wild guess. The pressure built up from the exit line being restricted, trying to pump fluid to the cooler. This might have gotten the fluid hot also. Anyway, the built up pressure caused the shifts to be hard. Now every is flowing the way it should and the shifts are smoother.

I agree with you here Glenn. Sorry I took so long to reply to this. Been driving across the country! LOL I hope it didn't get too hot. The fluid always stayed pink when I would check it. trans seems normal. Now to just get a ZF5 and swap it!!
