Tell us your issues and how they were resolved
I'm looking for any and all issues with the 2009+ trucks. Be it a simple factory defect or something that developed over time. Tell us how the issue was resolved whether it was actually repaired or the truck was traded.
A thread like this may assist anyone who is interested in a later model F-150. We're not looking for issues with sibling rivalries here, we've had those fights plenty already.
OK, I'll start. My truck is a 2011 F-150 Scab 4x4 with the ecoboost, it's in my sig line. Upon delivery I discovered a small rust line on the drivers side top of my rear bumper. It was clearly scratched from the factory. Ford made the dealer take a gawd awful amount of pics to prove it was a defective bumper.
After the third visit to the dealer to get yet another set of pics, I asked the service dept to put me on the phone with the regional Ford genius who was demanding so many pics. I told him simple and calm, "resolve this issue now or our 30 year long relationship is over". An appointment was made to replace the steel portion of the bumper.
Now at 26,600 miles I'm developing a mild shake in the front when I depress the brakes going 45 mph or faster. If I brake hard the shake isn't there. Classic symptoms of warped rotors. This is a small issue but most every Ford that I've owned since 1999 has had front rotor issues. I'll be calling the dealer pretty quick over this one. I'm sure they will only turn the rotors and make them even thinner.
Otherwise, she's been simply joyful to own and drive.

2010 XLT Scab 5.4: My biggest gripe is the AC performance on really hot days. After two re-flashes it has improved somewhat, but as soon as the discharge air starts to feel cold, the compressor cycles 'off.' I know it is a big cab to cool down, but having cold air blowing in your face until the whole cab cools down would make summer heat more tolerable. Otherwise there is nothing else troubling me about this truck.

But...
I've read recently that warped rotors have more to do with driving style than anything else.
-Warped- Brake Disc and Other Myths
From what I gather it has more to do with pads clamped down on a hot rotor than anything else. I try to put it in park and get off the brakes completely if I have to remain stopped with hot brakes, and I haven't had any warped brake issues in quite some time.
If you'd like to continue this in your thread I'd be happy to post, but I figured you may want to keep the thread strictly about problems and solutions. [/QUOTE]

Before you jump on the warped rotor bandwagon, look carefully at your front tires. I'd bet you have a wear issue, likely feathering on the inner edges of one. My 07 never warped rotors nor has my 11 (now with over 70K on it). However, even with proper tire rotation and alignments, my 11 wears the inner edge of my drivers tire. Which gives me the pulsation/shake that seems like a rotor issue. But a tire rotation will improve things, until the tires are worn in too much.
Just my 2 cents.

2012 F150 5.0L
Just hit 5,000 miles, problems so far:
Lost some electronic functions - solved with a hard reset (disconnect battery)
Mysterious dead battery 3 times- unsolved
Rear diff cover leaking - replace gasket and retighten - warranty repair by dealer
That all so far - minor stuff. Over all this is a great vehicle.

These are all interesting thoughts on my alleged warped rotors. I too have some thoughts and some facts:
My tires have been rotated during every oil change (6000-6500) mile interval and each oil change has been performed by the dealer. Per the sheet that I've been given, the wheels are torqued to factory specs. But who knows, I'm not there.
Sadly, my tires wear is perfect on all four with over 8/32's still showing after 26K miles. I was hoping to wear these POS tires out and get a good set. Apparently I have a good set, just no wet traction.
I use the truck to slow down as much as possible before applying any real brake pressure. I've always owned straight shift trucks in the past and hardly ever used any brake. Now, my driving is about 50/50 so using no hard braking is impossible. I don't tow or carry much weight so the truck is only expected to stop it's own weight.
I never had a warping issue on any vehicle before my '99 Taurus not on either Focus, T-birds or past trucks. My Taurus and my Expy had the front rotor issues.
I'm not saying that I'm not completely without fault but I know my driving style and I'm a freak about maintenance and who performs it when it's not me. I will approach the dealer on this issue as I feel that it's an issue.

2011 F150 2WD 5.0L Lariat Stupor Crew, owned 1/22/2011-10/15/2012. Traded it in (had 7,100 miles) for new 2013 Escape, as it had become ergonomically undesireable.
1) High step in height, not kind to arthritic right knee. Running boards worthless as there's no left side grab handle available.
2) Leather seats hard as a rock with very little padding. I have spinal stenosis, back spasms began to occur after an hour of driving.
3) When I folded my power drivers side mirror in, then put it back into its original position, the mirror glass had dropped down. Had to readjust.
4) Second time I bought gas, opened fuel door, its cover fell off onto the ground! Cover attached to hinge with one tiny post.
Went to dealer, entire assembly had to be replaced, but first, the dealer had to take pictures, submit them to FoMoCo for approval.
To hell with that, went home...glued the puppy back on with epoxy, used duct tape to retain it in place.
Warped Rotors: Had them replaced FIVE TIMES within 17,000 miles on 2004 F150 Lariat I owned. Ed Olson (FTE sponsor partsguyed) said that Ford had come out with different rotors, but problem persisted.
These are not the same rotors used on 2009's and later. Ed had a stroke, was forced to retire 5/2011.
Taurus/Sable front rotors not only in-famous for warping, but calipers could get so hot, they melted! FoMoCo redesigned rotors 4 times between 1986-1995, didn't solve anything.
Ford parts/service rep told me in 1988 (I was p/m of Santa Monica L/M) that 'envelope body style front bumpers' did not allow enough airflow to reach rotors.
When Lee Iacocca first looked at 1986 Taurus/Sable, he said they looked like flying potatoes.

2011' 5.0L Scab 6.5' bed
1) Transmission- 5K transmission starting hard shifting into second than third, reflashed three times over 25K miles than starting hard shifting into reverse dealershiped replaced the valve body at 34K no problems since.
2) Brake rotors- warped at 23K than again at 38K service tech said they turn alot of the new truck rotors so I replaced them with slotted and drilled high performance rotors and problem solved
3) 68K- Gas tank lid broke cost $167.00 for a new one the new one feels heavier and the tech said they have never had to replace a lid a second time
4) 68K- AC duct motor stripped a gear the service tech had to remove half the dash and split the duct to replace the motor at a cost of $565.00
5) Constant slip bump issue since I bought the truck even after both the dealership and I greased the splines
6) AC is almost useless in the summer months no fix for it
7) Love the trailer towing capabilities, the power and the quiet interior, hate sync, but my 03' gave me 195K trouble free miles before I started having problems I wish I had just fixed my 03' because I am completely dissapointed in the quality of this truck.

2012 Supercrew XLT 4x4 HD- Ordered Oct. '11- delivered Dec '11.
22,000 miles. NO PROBLEMS. Never back to dealer other than the works package when the OLM says it is time.
Wife did back it into a tree and had to have half the bumper replaced and small bit of paint touched up at the body shop. She couldn't see the tree so she ignored the beeping from the back up sensors.

My only major issue is the ineffective air conditioning in my 09. With a black Super Crew in Texas heat, the majority of summer is spent with the AC on MAX and fan on 4. Ford could learn from Toyota on this one.
I have experience rotor warp issues as well, but my truck is run hard (Dallas traffic combined with emergency response) so it is to be expected. I recently swapped to EBC rotors and pads and (knock on wood) have not had a problem yet.

2012 F-150 XLT Screw with 5.0 liter and 3.31 gears.
Somewhere just after 4,500 miles the blower motor resister went out. This was replaced by the dealership under warranty.
At around 8,500 miles I noticed that the paint in the drip rails in the roof started bubbling. At my 10,000 mile oil change I showed the dealer. They took pictures and sent it to Ford, and 5 minutes later Ford replied for them to fix it under warranty. After a couple scheduling conflicts on both of our parts it was fixed 3 months later.
Around 12,000 miles my right turn indicator began staying illuminated, only on the dash though. Everything else functioned normally. It did this for 2 weeks at least. When I dropped it off at the dealer to have the drip rails repainted I put that on the work order as well. They couldnt duplicate the problem and it never did it again.
