Quite impressed

I've owned 3 different diesel pickups over the last 15 years, 93 dodge, 00 dodge and an 07 dodge, and I've been spoiled with the powe. Recently I sold the last diesel and picked up my current pickup, 93 f350 crew cab 4x4 460 5 speed. I really like it and the price was right although I was hesitant to settle for a gas rig. Anyway, I just hauled a load weighing about 12k lbs, plus the pickup, so pushing 20k gross. On flat ground I was able to cruise at 65 in 5th gear and able to pull moderate grades in 4th at 60-65.

Yeah I didn't go very far on that trip so I couldn't get an idea about mpg, but I figure it's really burning through it.

Probably better mpg than you would have got with any smaller gas engine.

yup the 460 is a strong motor for sure. Mines got over 200,000 miles on it and it still torques side to side when I rev the engine in park!

That's not power, that's tired engine mounts, lol.
Tbh you can pull alot more with alot less than you'd expect.

But yeh the 460 is a nice piece of kit.

You could pull your 40' 8k trailer with a 4 banger ranger, wouldn't be safe or enjoyable. Lots of rigs can tow, doesn't mean they do it well.
