help finding rear diff gears please

95 F150, 5.0, 4R70W.

My rear axle code is H8 which is limited slip with 3.08:1 ratio according to THIS website.

My understanding was that all F150s have 31 spline axles, correct? Im wanting to swap to 3.73 or 4.10 gears but all the ring and pinion gear sets I could find on Summit for the Ford 8.8in rear end are listed as having 28 spline pinions which I assume wont work if my information about all F150s having 31 spline axles is accurate.

That website I linked above with the complete list of axle codes also sells gear sets but doesn't specify the spline count of the pinion gears.

Anyone know where I can get ring and pinion gears for 31 spline axles? Thanks in advance.

Also, kinda unrelated but is there any way I could switch the rear drums to disc brakes? Any Fords that came with discs that I could swap parts from, or aftermarket kits?

You don't need to change the spider gears when changing the ring and pinion so the axle spline count is irrelevant.

Oh really? Ok, stupid question then.

What brand would you guys recommend? Im looking at G2, Richmond Gear, or Ford Racing. Im leaning towards G2, unless someone recommends against it.

Just make sure your carrier will work with the deeper gear set. Going from a 3.08 to a 4.10 might require a different carrier.

How about 3.73s? I'd rather have 4.10 gears but I'd also rather not have to change the carrier since I already have limited slip, so I'd be willing to compromise and get 3.73 gears if you don't think the stock carrier would be happy with 4.10s. It would still be a significant improvement.

Sorry for the stupid questions guys, as I've said before almost everything about this project is a learning experience for me. As far as who is doing the swap, idk yet. Most things I do myself but thats not something Im comfortable with trying to do on my own. I have to research shops in my area and find out who could do it right for a reasonable cost.

Then let them get the parts. You don't bring eggs to the dinner for them to cook for you. Same goes for auto repair shops. They make money off the parts and the labor

Not if they would charge me twice as much for the gears as I'd pay online. Id rather just pay labor. I might try it myself, it depends on what I find when I research how its done. I wasn't comfortable overhauling a transmission either because I'd never done that before, but I ended up doing it myself anyway, and so far its been working perfectly. It just depends on how I feel about taking it on when the time comes vs what a shop would charge me to do it.

Typically labor charges go up then. I know they do when I work with OTHER PEOPLEs parts

Yeah, that makes sense. Im gonna ask around at various local shops and get quotes for just labor, and for parts + labor and see which way is less expensive. I don't mind spending money but it still makes sense to take the most cost-effective route. I've read a couple how-to guides and it seems like something I think I could do so I might end up trying to do it myself...only problem is I don't have a shop press or know anyone who does.

The carrier does not change with the 8.8.. any ratio gear set will work with the factory carrier.
