High Idle issues...

So the truck has sat for a while due to the owner taking some time off. Started it twice in 2 weeks.

The same issues persists on both the first and second starts, it has a idle issue where it would gradually increase on its own for no apparent reason, and if I tap on the accelerator it would go back down to the regular idle speed, then increase a few minutes later.

Also because it sat the park lights do not work anymore and don't know why, and for some odd reason the engine temp gauge doesn't work but I get heat.

Here's the cold start video:

Here is the high idle video:

Ideas would be appreciated.

High idle when cold is a cold weather strategy built into the pcm. The pcm is telling the motor to run high idle to help warm it up.

Stepping on the brake brings it back to idle as it thinks you are going to put it in gear and drive off.

Normal operation.

Also for the temp gauge I can see in your second video it is working. Where it is at is about 130 degrees of water temp right there. Gauge is not going to go anywhere just in the driveway.

Yep, I agree with Senix, mine starts it's high idle climb around 90 seconds after a cold start, and goes to around 1100 RPM.
The truck could probably idle for a year in your kind of outside temps and the temp gauge won't move, really, the cooling systems are made to cool not warm, you have to get them out and stretch there legs to get heat and even at that just driving will probably take you 20 minutes to get to temp.

Maybe the engine temp sensor is the problem?

As mentioned above.
Mine takes about 6 to 8 miles driving at highway speed before reaching normal operating temp.

I concur with the above, will not warm up well, idles to about 1100, and takes forever to warm up. Normal.

(For any of you who were aware that I no longer use the VVT system on the turbo, it was stinky and smoky during cold starts, and I found that manually moving the actuator full 100% closed lets it build about 5-6 psi of boost as it revs up to 1100 RPM, and the smell is gone, and it actually warms up real quick.)

Ya, but is it doing any good? mileage better? I find it hard to believe its good for the motor?
