Repairing stripped head threads

I goofed this morning and stripped a head thread on our 223….Dang, I've had quite a bit of bad luck on the engine part of this project.

I'm reaching out to get advice on repairing this. For background on this engine, read my last post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-question.html .

I think I may have crossed threaded the bolt with the hole threads, and when torquing the bolt, the threads in the block failed.

I am wondering if it might be best to drill and tap this one hole for the 1/2" thread size, though the others will be 7/16".

Thanks

I would put a 1/2" Helicoil in. Still going to require drilling and tapping.

You can also drill and tap it for the next size bigger bolt.

heli coil is the correct way to repair it and it is neither difficult or expensive.
