Question Signal lights flashing fast or not at all

1998 F150

Left signal lights flash supper fast or not at all but if I pull the arm down (for left side again) but stop before it clicks in place, signal lights work normal. 4 ways work good; right side works good 95% of the time; all bulbs are good. So like Spotty suggested it's the signal arm switch? Does that sound right?

Many years ago I changed it twice in my old Ford Taurus; twice because I was buying used from a wrecker.

Thanks

The whole unit is screwed in place to the steering column. Called the multi-function switch. It's not hard to change, I got one for my 98 for about $40.00 bucks from RockAuto. If you fiddle with it and things "change" I don't know what else it could be unless a wire is funky on one side of the connection. Let us know what you find.

I installed a new one and everything works perfect... all lights even the light under the hood which wasn't before.

Now the bad news is that the switch cost me $105. and that's with my 45% discount; suggested retail is close to $190. All auto parts are a bloody ripoff in Canada. I buy as much as possible from the USA but I couldn't wait a couple weeks to get this part.

Thanks again

Glad you got it...parts are parts...the satisfaction will outweigh the cost in a short time...

Good to hear you fixed it. My SuperDuty had the same issue when I got it, my buddy insisted that his explorer had the same issue and he could fix it. What does he do? Pull up on the blinker switch (much harder than I would like!) Bam, lights worked again. Haven't had an issue with it since that day.

Sounds like a common problem? It's good to have forums like this for tech support.
