BulletProof Oil Cooler's, those who've installed the kits.

I've recently installed the oil cooler kit on my 2005 F250. Since installing, I'm getting what sounds like a power steering whine or moan. Its not the power steering pump, and wasn't there prior to install. I've routed the hoses correctly, but this noise drives me insane.

Thanks for the help!

Recheck your lines. you can try putting some zip ties
on in a few places to se if the hoses are moving.
Also you can if you have the tools post a video of it
making the sounds. Sometimes that helps more.

I installed it, not sure anything related to the oil cooler would cause this. Did you spill diesel fluid or coolant on the drive belt? I got a squeaky belt out of my job due to spilling diesel as well as coolant on mine.

idk but could the be a bad gasket with the kit causing a valve like moans ?
i have it happen on a water pump with a gasket that covered the port funny and would vibrate weird and moan lol something to think about anyways

BulletProofing?

Hi, I just bought a 2004 6.0 and I have read up on the "bulletproofing" aspects. Is the following link a good kit that I can have a local shop put on? I trust the local shop for the install, but I'd like to just buy all the parts needed in a kit rather than have the shop put different pieces together.

Here is the link - Strictly Diesel - 6.0L Master Kit®

Thanks,
Spooky

Not worth doing until you have to have it done..

Use only Ford OEM head gaskets.

The bulletproofdiesel.com external oil cooler is what i chose, and i also have their egr cooler.

Should my head gaskets go someday, then arp studs go on.

It does happen that opening up to prevent a problem, contributes to something else failing shortly after..

Well the EGR has already started acting up on me. There is white smoke coming from the tail pipe (just once, not all the time) and sometimes the truck seems to want to take off on its own. I want to go ahead and handle the problem. My local shop said they could delete the EGR for $950.00 (including the kit and labor) but if i can get the whole bulletproofing kit with the EGR kit also for $1374.95 (not including labor) it seems to be the best deal. Thoughts on the updated info?

Thanks again,
Spooky

Spooky,

First off, never use anything but FORD OEM head gaskets. They fail because "TTY" (Torque to Yield) bolts were used instead of proven ARP bolts.

I spent about 4900.00 on everything I did to mine, and I did the work myself.

Took me 3 weeks working on the weekends and about 2-3 hours each night. I run the bulletproof Diesel external kit. Here is a list of everything I did on mine:

Intercooler Tube - changed from oem plastic to oem metal.
BPD FICM Power Supply
BPD Cap Kit
Bullet Proof Oil Cooler System with Cold Weather Package & EGR Cooler
Updated STC Fitting for High Pressure Oil Pump
Updated Turbo Oil Drain Tube
Titanium Turbo Bolts

Just a note though, the Intercooler Tube is FORD OEM, along with the STC Updated Fitting and OIL Drain tube. You may be able to save yourself some money by checking with your local dealership. I am luck, my dad is the parts manager for mine so I get great deals on parts.

Just some thoughts!

Chris
