1979 F250 PSD swap
I have a 1979 f250 Ranger Lariat Camper special currently with a worn out 460 and a 4 speed
it has factory dana 60 front and rear ends
Im looking to swap in a 7.3l powerstroke diesel into it. Ive already looked at cummins swaps and 7.3idi swaps and all that stuff and have no interest in it. So im wondering what kind of things i would have to get to make this swap possible.
Type of transmission and transfer case?
How wiring in the wiring harness would work?
Things like that

Look for a whole parts truck, preferably 99-00. They, as Im sure you know, have forged rods and wont make a window in the block at 500hp like the later powdered metal rods of the late 00-03 7.3. That is my opinion. There was a local to me 76 body put on a 01 frame so that is an option as well.

A friend of mine has a 70 with a 97 powerstroke in it. He bought a complete truck and swapped the engine and transmission into the frame. He used a 79 frame wasnt super hard but a lot of trial and error as with every engine swap. I know the cab required modification for the downpipe in the firewall and floor area around the transmission hump.
The wiring was a different situation, ended up using the whole harness and complete dash out of the 97.
Used the rear end out of the donor for the speed sensor and the abs is even hooked up.
As for transfer case, he when divorced mounted with a 205.
Its a really well done swap, too bad he hates computers or i would get him on here.
