Thermostat water outlet for 352 v8?

I just pulled the water outlet off my 352 to find a 2 1/2 180degree thermostat. The water outlet, which has a 7074 number stamped on it, has an indent for a 2 1/8 thermostat. Is this correct?

Ford changed the size (from smaller to larger?) around '67. I recently replaced mine in my '66 which has a Streetmaster intake and stock housing; I think it took the small one. I used a Stant 195*, p/n 13479.
You could source one and measure it. The one I removed was bent and inoperative, perhaps because it was too large.

Well, I figured out my block has the big hole for the 2 1/2 Tstat, but the PO had a water outlet for a 2 1/8 tstat and sandwiched a 2 1/2 tstat in there. I searched napa on line but can't find a 2 1/2 water outlet. Anyone have a part number or suggestions?

Don't know how far you are from the parts house, but drive there and take it with you, NAPA is a good choice but not the only choice. Usually there are more than one in the same hood.

Why did you take the current one out? Was it leaking? Was it working?

Well, it was leaking so I took it off and discovered the wrong outlet. The 2 1/2 stat doesn't fit into the recess of this incorrect 2 1/8 one. I looked for one on Napa online and they don't carry one for a 1966, of course. neither does LMC, CG, Macs or Dennis carpenter!

Look at the photos on the bump form thread about 11 down. It shows one installed although backwards in backwards. Is NAPA the only parts store in Portland??

If I am reading it correctly it does seem like 2 1/2" diameter would be correct. They only seem to type a value in if it changes from the line above.

Thermostat housing number is C4TZ-8592-B and several available NOS.

Green Sales Company has 12 available.

Yeah, that one looks like the later 2 1/8 housing. Yeah, we have plenty of parts places here, but they all might as we'll be the same store. Went to four different places, o' Reilly's, Autozone, Napa, etc. nothing. Apparently the water neck for 1965/66 352 V8s is obsolete. Green Sales might have one, or else it's the wrecking yards!

I looked online at Advance at the Stant 180º for 66 352 and found 13078 for $5.00
Buy Stant Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit 13078 at Advance Auto Parts

and 76 F150 360, I found 2, 45358 for $8.00
Buy Stant Superstat™ Super Premium Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit 45358 at Advance Auto Parts

and 13008 for $4.00

Buy Stant Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit 13008 at Advance Auto Parts

You may be making this too hard. I usually talk with the guys at the parts counter and if I have a problem they don't mind pulling boxes and comparing parts if I still have questions, but yall may do it differently over on the left coast.

I have a few extra housings around. Problem is getting one to you . .

The 68-72 FE housing will work but you will need another hose. Its angled different along with diff hose size.
