1977 F250 Camper Special

Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to say hello and tell you about the truck i just acquired. Its a 1977 2wd F250 XLT Camper Special.

VIN: F25JLY45600

It has the 460-4v engine and the C6 trans. Two tone paint: Copper Metallic/Indio Tan Paint.

I have it at the body shop as we speak refreshing the paint and doing some cab rust repair. Will post pictures soon!

I had the Marti report run and found:

954 with these paint codes
72 with these paint/trim codes
19,387 with these engine/trans codes
10,998 with the Ranger XLT package

the vehicle came equipped with:

regular & deluxe tutone paint
power steering
slide out spare tire carrier
camper package
speed control
air conditioning
am/fm stereo
tinted glass
trailer towing wiring harness
protection group
auxiliary oil cooler
auxiliary rear springs
midship fuel tank w/standard tank
ranger xlt package
rear step bumper

overall the truck is mostly original and i plan to keep it that way! pictures soon.. just wanted to say hello and i'm glad i found this forum.

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html Bob's link is not working. Can someone in the know tell me why?

How to upload pictures to the FTE Forums. - YouTube. Thanks Sam Rusty_Old_F250. Best we can find is that this video was done by Gundown64

Nice work so far. I wish my truck was in as good of shape as yours(as in such little rust and dents) and your pics are leading me to believe mine was a ranger xlt like yours?

Yer doing super great work. But I wonder if another cab would have put ya farther
ahead for the same money? And time also being money? There are a lot of good and
better cabs out there.

well, i did briefly consider the donor cab route -- but ultimately i wanted to try and stay as true to this truck as I could. Thats also why the seat is at the upholstery shop. I couldn't find the XLT material anywhere.. or anything that even closely resembled my OEM. I ordered and sent back several attempts from vendors and decided to just pay a bit extra for 30 year local upholstery shop to custom match.

the cab was savable and now that the cancer is gone -- she's going to be looking good. and -- going this route leaves another donor cab out there in the world too!

SMS fabrics

Hi,

Did you try SMS auto fabrics in Oregon? They had XLT material for my 77 in blue. I went with an Explorer special fabric instead but they may have the XLT fabric for yours.

Here is a link. They send samples for free.

Largest Selection of Cloth, Vinyl & Leather Automobile Upholstery - SMS Auto Fabrics

It's been a while since I gave an update. I picked up the bench seat and headliner today. Turned out great! Matches the original design and grain really well. Here is the seat--
