My solution for squealing TTB hub seals
Truck's in my sig. I recently replaced the inner hub seals on it when I serviced the bearings and installed new hub lockouts. These seals are a 2 piece design... the seal itself, and a dust cover that sits on the spindle (doesn't rotate with the hub) and rides on the inside face of the hub seal. Used National brand seals, installed correctly... driver's side was quiet, passenger side would squeal like a b**** when moving over 5 MPH or so. After tearing it apart a couple times to re-lube it, only to have it start screaming again after 10 miles or so, I wanted to try something.
Here's what it looked like when I pulled it apart, this is the inside hub seal. You can see where the dust cover rides on the face of it:
And all I did was take my Dremel and dress this surface up some, so it looks like this... seal is installed in hub:
And packed the inside of the dust cover with grease too, figuring it will eventually run down into the seal/dust cover mating surface and keep it lubed.
It's been quiet for an entire day now, and I did drive it probably right around 30 miles yesterday.
Just wanted to post this in case anyone is searching for a fix. I'll keep y'all updated if it starts squalin' again.
