The stock cam in your '96 is a steel roller so you don't want to go backwords to a flat tappet like that Crane, instead look at the Crane 2020(444211) roller and then you won't need different lifters or pushrods but upgraded springs are always a good idea and likely necessary with the valve lift this cam generates.

The stock cam in your motor produces 0.422"/0.445" lift at the valve and has 254/266 degrees advertised duration.

Use those recommended by the cam manufacturer.

Given that this cam generates 0.530" lift you don't want to use 1.7 rockers the stock 1.6 rockers will be fine, you could substitute 1.6 roller rockers but it's a bunch of money for very little gain. Aluminum roller rockers fit under the stock truck valve covers with a little messaging of the oil fill and PCV baffles while steel roller tipped rockers will fit with no mods because they're physically smaller.

Based on my experience with the Crane 444232 I'd say this cam will run just fine on SD.. the two have very similar specs.

Well I was talking about the cam you suggested the 444211 I was under the impression that the 232 would be a step backwards im just wonder how well my computer will accept it cause I plan on just popping it in and change springs and then running new stock lifters
