F250 stutters to the point of shutting down while gas is applied

Hi everyone, my father recently passed away and i got his 89 ford f250 7.5L that his girlfriend wanted to give away for 50$. It sat for 3 years and I've got everything good to go and it drives great. I've replaced the pump relay, oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter. Only problem is, now after driving for five minutes, it starts sputtering and loses power but doesn't die if I let off the gas and give it a second. Could anyone direct me on where in this site to go to. Trying to get this truck in tip top condition. My father and I drove it all the way from CO to NC together.

xsfg,
Sorry to hear about your Father. Hey I am not a mechanic nor do I pretend to be but I have not seen anyone jump on this, however I am sure they will. Great bunch here at FTE.
Sounds like to much fuel, or maybe not enough.
IS this EFI or carb set up?

Hammy.

It's EFI, I couldn't even blow through the old fuel filter. It was horrible. From what I've read, the old low pressure pumps have filters in them as well. I'm thinking this could be the culprit but I'd like a little more advice from people in the know before I start ripping into things I shouldn't be.

Is it throwing a code? Sounds like what mine was doing when the EGR valve was stuck open.

It was a loose fuel regulator vacuum hose but now my check engine light is blinking quickly intermittently.

Time to order one, unless you want to start forking out money for some guy you don't know to tell you what he thinks is wrong with it while he has a financial interest in you coming back again and again. This is the same exact one I use, and it works just fine for the truck and mine is a '97 with the E4OD. It also worked great on my buddy's '89 Bronco apparently as well.
