I bought the truck from a guy as a gift for my little sister back in May. The truck ran great on the 40 minute trip home. It sat for about 2 months until she got things straight. Once she started driving it everyday it started acting up. It idles fine and you ran run it slap out of gas. Put it in drive and you're not getting far. It acts like it's not getting gas. I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, check for shorts in the wiring as well as possibly clogged lines. All seems well. Anyone ever experience this or have any ideas? My neighbor builds motors and such. He's been a great help but I feel I've become a PIA!
Since you said it sat for 2 months. Did you check the air filter and airbox and airlines(2 big hoses) for any mice nesting. Something can be blocking the airflow.
I am not the english police, but what does this mean:
you ran run it slap out of gas.
sorry...that was suppose to be you can run it slap out of gas.
but yes, I've been through every little area because I thought the same thing. I'm going to replace the EEC relay as well just for the hell of it. It's just driving me nuts because it went from a strong running truck to dead weight.
And check it again when its acting like its not getting any?
Gotta be a fuel or spark issue, find out which one is the problem and go from there. Could be a combination of both, low fuel pressure and weak spark but be fairly rare to suffer both conditions at the same time.
We did check the fuel pressure. It was fine. I popped the distrubter cap off as well and the insides looked fine. It seems to fire fine. Honestly, it looks like it's been replaced....looks too new. What about the ignition coil? It could cause these symptoms, maybe?
