Custom roof rack (and maybe even rails?)
Hey y’all,
ive heard of the renown “too Low” cross-rails to do anything but I figure I would go ahead and use them with some rubber mat underneath for protection. Has anyone tried this method for paint/rust prevention?
also I got 2 48’’ cross wire mesh decks to use as roof racks and I’m thinking of using steel tubes or square beams on the oem cross bars to lay the 2 decks in series, what do you guys think? Can tying trucker’s hitch on the joints secure the rack and beams to the cross bar?
lastly, if all else fails (I have a crossbar that has a bad hatchlock), I’m thinking of pulling the rails out and using telescopic rails instead and I can also use telescopic rails as cross bars and tie everything together.
what considerations and parts should I have? I know Paint stripping/rust of roof and reliability of rack has to be considered
