The reason I asked about the transmission was because transmissions get changed out over time. Yes, 52 didn't see an OD but later years could have been swapped in.

The rear motor mounts (transmission mounts) were changed drastically between 52 and 53. An overdrive isn't going into a 48-50 pickup without butchering the frame.

Often wrong, never in doubt, ha ha. Figured if my 51 car had it a 52 pickup could too, sorry about that.
