Just thought of something.

Another bonus for staying with R12 on the A/C is I still have some cans of R12 so once the system is up and running, I can safely add R12 if the level goes back down over the years.

Looks like I have the post count, but need to be a member for 10 days.

Which company makes a 4 wheel disc brake kit for my truck? I did a quick look at Stainless Steel Brake and Disc Brake R us but no luck on a complete kit

I haven't been on for a while, so here is an update on what I've done.

New master cylinder, calipers, wheel cylinders, pads and shoes.

All fluids changed.

One disaster.
Son moved the truck and ran into his 88 Iroc while I was at work.

Crushed my rocker panel behind passenger door and damaged rear running board to the tune of $1,400 in damage.

Wiped out right front bumper, fender and lights on his car.

I'm glad I was at work when I got the news. It gave me time to cool down.

I'd post pictures, but for some reason I still don't have that option on this site.

Take care.
Ken

Leave it to kids... If he cant back up a truck is an Iroc a good idea? My 87 almost killed me in 1990 took it into the woods at near 100. Young and dumb ... I still have the car in moms garage back home. Meh just first thought that came to mind. Sorry for your dads health decline first off! Moving on... Hows the brake system feel to you today? Still looking to upgrade ? How did you make out with the R12 ? Can you post pre crash pics yet?

he musta really been cookin to have done all that damage, ive had my fair share of demo derby time in driveways and its never resulted in anything more than a scratch or a plastic bumper paint flake

x2 on the iroc and sloppy driving. gets even worse when he gets to be drinkin with his buddies. . .

I did this on my 91 F350, drilled and slotted, new calipers, brake hoses, lines, shoes, wheel cyls and master cyl. It stops good, my SD with 4 wheel disk and drilled and slotted stops way better. But this truck stops very nice.

I found a shop that does R12 and was going to take it to them as soon as I went through the brakes and changed all of the fluids.

My son had just finished the transfer case (the last of the fluid changes) and put on a new fuel filter and was going to take the truck out for a test drive.

The Iroc is parked in front of the shop and as you know this trucks don't have the best turning radius. He couldn't have been going very fast in the area where it happened and it looks like he was turning and caught the right front corner of his car.

The throttle is a little touchy and easy to push a little to hard making it lurch forward. Looks like the rocker panel was close to the Iroc and was just a lurch away from disaster. Dent starts just past the door going to the back of the cab and all below the rubber molding.

It looks like the rear running board dug into his bumper cover and pushed the rear running board back about 4". Didn't hurt the running board but it did bend the bracket.

As far as the brakes go, they are much better than they were. Haven't made any fast hard stops because I only have a few miles on them.

I'll get some more miles on the truck and then throw on the camper and see if I feel safe.

Take care.
Ken

Oh Yeh, I still can't post any pictures. Not sure why it won't let me. It just says download failed when trying to put in my album and there is no attachment option (that I can find) for these posts.
