starter motors

Will the starter motor for a 1964 223 6 interchange with a 1966 352 v 8 ?. Thanks.

No, totally different. 1963/64 223/262/292 starters are the same for M/T, while 1963/64 223/292 A/T starters are the same.

FE starters have 3 mounting holes, 1963/76 is the same: A/T/M/T

All 1962 and earlier starters are different, as they use Bendix inertia starter drives that contain a HUGE coil spring.

The inertia drive has to unwound by hand to expose the roll pin that retains it to the shaft of the starter armature.
