b&m megashifter and headers

ive got a 72 f100 w a 360 and c6 transmission. i bought a b&m truck megashifter and am ready to install it as soon as my new carpet comes in. also my headers on the passenger side have a hole in them so im gonna replace them too the same day. anyone out there have any words of advice on the shifter installation? and just from looking at it, it looks like il have to remove the starter to change the headers on the passenger side. as elementary as it probably is, ive never changed a starter b4, how does it hook up? thanks

First off welcome aboard.

Secondly, the starter is no big deal. Unhook the battery and start unbolting. You can probably get away not even unhooking the wires if you have a buddy who can swap the header while you hold the starter...

What headers are you getting?I was looking at a set from Headman at summit and there only 129.00 wich im prob just gonna wrap. The logs on the sides of these motors are crazy restrictive.

Depending on where you at i would check to see if there is coating company near by.I had set of headers ceramic coated on the outside only for only 100 bucks.Just in case you didnt wanna spend that much.I plan on doing this agine to those headmans.

I put a B&M shifter in my truck. I would suggest mounting it before you install the carpet, then trim the carpet to fit aroung the shifter, then install the plastic shifter base. I had to play with the adjustment on the shifter cable. It would go into every gear, but not all the way into 3rd gear. Now that it's in, I love it.

When you adjust it, leave the cotter pin out at the trans leaver, click every gear, and go under and check that it goes into every gear just right.
1-2-3 gears are most important.

EXACTLY like victorl said. Make sure it goes into every gear. I thought mine was going into every gear, but it was not quite all the way into 3rd. It was slipping a bit in 3rd until I got it adjusted right.
The first time you "slap it" through the gears, you'll be smiling from ear to ear.
