Ditch the step ladder. I got tied of them kicking out on me too. Now I stack straw bales around the front of the truck and stand on them.

Thanks a good idea Phil, maybe a couple boards across for stability.

Joey, this is picture of my boost leak detector.

I took the day off....My old body is bruised and sore....I just could not mess with it today.

I will go to home depot and get the stuff to make one of those pressure testers.
The one I saw had a regular quick connect fitting in it....you just plugged in a air line from a compressor....it said to set the air pressure about 20 psi.

How do you do it with a Schrader Valve in it???

If the new performance wheel makes that noise as a normal sound....it will come out of my truck for sure..

It is a LOUD noise...you can not hear anything but that sound...No engine, exhaust or anything and that is at WOT
It is a cross between a belt squeal and a whistle...nothing pleasing about that noise

I have spent the best part of 3 weeks laying across the front of that dang truck

Recap....DuraLite Air Filter failure
Stock compressor wheel destroyed
Glow plugs changed out
3 compressor wheel changes
fuel filter bowl removal and cleaned & new filter
replaced all rubber fuel lines around and connected to fuel filter
3 attempts to find noise from under hood

Tomorrow is another day....

the little schrader valve looks like a tire valve stem probably installed through the inside out.... I have used those tire valves in a couple applications... they're great! lol

Sorry Joe, I had no good pics to use so I'm hoping to get some done in a couple days. You can't use my idea this time around anyway (since it's already been taken apart), but would be great to see and use in the future.

At tractor supply I got the plastic cap and rubber coupling. Fit it in the intake boot and put the air to it.

Hey Joey, Sorry to hear this thing is kicking your butt like that! Hang in there, I'm sure you're close.

The boost leak detector I build is made from a threaded cap and a reducer ( was thinking it was from 4"-3"), but it fits tight into the end of the silicone elbow that goes into the turbo. You have to put the tester there because if you put it before the aluminum section in the intake you will leak all the air into the valve cover through the crank case vent (unless you have removed it). I drilled a hole in the end of mine just big enough to be able to start a male air hose quick connect. I also drilled a little hole where I threaded a 1/4" hose barb into it and ran it to a little 0-60 PSI gauge I have. I then attach a regulator to the quick connect, and my air hose to the regulator. Put it all together, tighten it down good and tight and slowly start turning up the pressure. Then spray everything down with soapy water and watch for bubbles. This is a really good way to pinpoint a leak like this. I can get a picture of it tonight if you'd like one. It was cheap to build and works great.

Are you sure that the clamps are all tight on the silicone boots between the Y pipe and the intake plenums? That is where these things generally leak if it is going to make a sound like that.

Oh, and as a side note, I'm glad you didn't pay your mechanic to O-ring the heads on your truck. I know that there are quite a few guys on here running 60 PSI plus without o-ringing the heads. You DO want to have head studs, stronger valve springs and better push rods for those boost levels, but the stock heads are just fine.

Keep at it and you'll have this thing running great in no time.

DYI

Thanks for the instructions....I got it.

I will go get the parts to make this thing....I will take the boot with me...

OH...It is raining here today........and tomorrow and Wednesday as per the weather man.

I sure hope I find a leak...and it is not that stupid performance wheel I put in. Or I will be out in the rain removing it.

I bought it off ebay....it is a 6+6 Kinugawa billet turbo wheel.

This is the wheel I ordered

The search number is ....181227401305

Tell me what you think.....A FOOL and HIS MONEY soon SEPERATE
