To flush or not to flush

To flush or not to flush
... transmission fluid. I have an '07 F250 with Torqueshift transmission that calls for the fluid and filter to be changed at 30k mile intervals. The shop wants to flush the fluid but I'm a little apprehensive about that based on past experiences and some horror stories about the process. Are those problems now nonexistent or should I just have the fluid drained, put a new filter on and fill it with fresh fluid?

If the shop you're referring to is the dealer, it'd be ok IMO to let them do it. Personally, I always did my own. It's a pretty simple job that you can do on your own and save yourself a little $$$. The only problem is you won't be able to get all the fluid out at once without the flush.

There is no filter in the pan, it is just a screen!
A good idea is to change to a 2008 pan and filter, 2008 and newer trucks do have a filter instead of a screen.
