81 429 Ignition issues
Hey guys,
I have a 1981 Ford C700 with a 7.0 429. Just stopped running and I know it is spark related. I have done a lot of research online the last few days and am still confused. I simply cannot find an ignition control module anywhere. Is this possible for the motor to not have one? It is a duraspark distributor. I am getting voltage to the coil, but no spark. I can't find the ICM to test it and now think it is the coil pick up in the dist.
Can anyone confirm if this motor can run with the duraspark dist and no ICM?
NAPA did not have a listing for one, but OReilly does.
Any help is appreciated with troubleshooting this problem.
Thanks,
Gary

My 1986 F250 with a 460 was a wiring mess when I got it. I switched to an HEI distributor. 1 wire to fire it and 1 wire to your tach. Very simple. I got mine on Ebay from Skip White. 39 bucks. Its very simple to hook up. I may get beat up for suggesting this. But, this is the 3rd swap we have done. All with success.
