V10 Coming Back

V10 Coming Back
I just spoke with the salesman I purchased this 2013 from and he said that the V10 was coming back next year. I have not been pleased with the 6.2 gasser coming from the 08 6.4 diesel and am heading back to the dealership in the morning to begin working on a trade for the 6.7 diesel.
Salesman said I might want to consider the V10 but I am not sure since I never owned one.
Anyone have any thoughts on the V10 over the 6.2 and how it would compare to the 6.7 diesel?

I'd take a 3v V10 over the 6.2 with the 6 spd trans... More power.
FWIW - The '14's still have the 6.2, so if that's what he was referring to, he was full of it. Nothing has been released yet for 2015 so I'd take his comment with a grain of salt...
Ford needs to EcoBoost the 5.0 or the 6.2 (not happening). It might pull too much business away from the 6.7...
Each motor has its place. You haven't been happy with the torque in the gasser, not sure you would be with the V10 (not much more torque than the 6.2).

Thanks Matt.
Not sure why he would say what he did about the V10.
I am trading a 2013 KR F350 4x4 with less than 5,000 miles so I have no idea what I might get offered for a trade. I do think I will forgo the King Ranch this time since they changed the real leather to the same material you get in a Lariat and they don't offer the black over the grey in a KR.

A direct injected 6.2L would be plenty. That could easily hit the same peak torque as the 6.8L 3V, with a lot more horsepower to boot.
Remember, the 6.2L is at the same point in it's development cycle as the 6.8L 2v. That engine lasted ~5 years in the Super Duty before the improved 3v version was released.
If I was a betting man, I would say expect the next version of the 6.2L for the 2015 or 2016 model years.

When I bought my truck, the sales guy asked me if I wanted an '11 with the V10. I knew they weren't offered in the 250/350 series so I told him I had just started researching trucks and didn't know what I wanted (had my order guide in my hand with everything I wanted). I found another guy there that was well versed in SD's and ordered my truck through him.
I wish sales guys would actually take the time to learn of the products they're selling. Some of them do, but it's obvious a lot don't.
Anyways, good luck with trade in, post of pics of the new truck when ya get it.

I am still waiting for them to put the 6 speed with the V-10 in the F-450/550. I do not understand why they still are using the 5 speed when the 6 is being used in the F-650.

I have a 2012 F550 4x4 with a V10 that I tow with on a daily basis, and the only reason I went with the V10 is that I wasn't sure the 6.2 would hold up long term to the loads I pull (14k+/-). I also have a 2011 F250 4x4 with a 6.2, and it handles the loads very well. I am just not sure if it will hold up.

Does your 2012 have select shift? What kind of mileage do you get? I have a 2011 F-450 with V10 and 4:88 rears at work and it gets 6-7 mpg (not bad for a bucket truck, LOTS of idle time) and I have wondered what kind of milage of these trucks get with a flatbed. I have been very impressed with the performance of this engine and rearend combination in this truck.

Just curious but why did you go from the 6.4 to the 6.2? If you were expecting the power to be the same someone poorly misinformed you. Also if your going to trade it in why not get back in a diesel? Even if they did offer a V10 it will still not make the power the 6.7 does.
I am very happy with the 6.2's power it pulls everything I have without even working. I really like diesels and I did want a 6.7 just to have I dont need it....plus I could not justify the extra cost just on a want not a need.
They will never make a gasser with the same power as the diesel...it would kill the diesel market....if you are used to diesel power then stay with a diesel you will never be happy with a gasser if you expect it to pull like a, diesel.
good luck
