Now, if they would only make a similar install for the 7.3L PSD it'd be worth the extra cashe . Anybody know why we don't have a development on this for PSD's?
I remember the first 8-71 I ever saw came off a garbage truck at a local shop - no kidding it was really a GMC garbage truck, ya know with the can crusher in the back. Anyways, with the worsham screw being common technology now-a-days you'd think somebody smarter than me would be trying to market one to us PS lovers. Anybody know why they don't - is there a technical reason why a supercharger can't be put on the 7.3.

It's much more likely that we'll see compound turbo's in "kit" form before we see a blower/turbo kit.

On industrial diesels and some larger trucks the turbo blows into the supercharger then into the engine.
Many years ago Rick Dobberton built an early model Nova with a 454 that had twin turbo's blowing into a GM roots style blower.
And yes it did work quite well.

Well I don't want to take this thread in a completely different direction - the S/C and 500hp would be cool in any truck you could get to hook up with it. I'm still learning about diesels - bought mine for the road mileage - but know they are developing supercharged turbo diesels for other applications (industrial, aircraft, etc.) Here's something offerred this spring for the flyboys, then again it is a 2-stroke diesel:

The way I see it, with the compact size and incredible performance of the twin screw S/C, the fuel management/tuning availble and a solid powerplant for a baseline, It would seem that some of the gearheads would be trying something along this line. It didn't take long to put a blower on a 426 Hemi, which redefined drag racing as we know it today. I'll shut up about this and put the thread back on track.
Love to see pics of anyone who's done the whipple setup and can tell me how much ballast was needed in the bed to leave 1/4 mile stripes - I'm guessing about 500 pounds of dead weight and at least a three link. I would think 500hp would cause excessive tread wear by the owner as well, especially every weekend.
