Navi front seat foam replacement

I think a really fat dude owned my Navi before me... The drivers seat cushion is jacked up... I had partially disassembled it and found the foam to be all matted, torn, and flakey. The seat frame was impressively sturdy so it didnt appear to be affected. What I also noticed was the seat cover seemed to be glued to the foam.

I was wondering, short of scoring a deal on ebay or a junkyard for a good replacement (this seems to be a long shot at best), what is the most economical means of replacing the foam? I have the seat heater/cooler if it makes a difference... Ford is really pricy on new parts.

I was thinking about taking it to an upholstery shop but I prefer not pay for something I can do... Are their cheap aftermarket foam replacements or can an upholstery shop cut new replacements?

If I can get just the new foam, what is the best approach to separating the cover from the old foam? What glue to reattach it to the new?

Thanks!

For my 03 Expedition with heated / cooled seats I just ordered new foam from Parts Guy Ed who advertised here. Buck and a quarter if I recall. The seat cover was held down with super velcro which was glued to the foam and stitched into the cover.

Super Velcro huh? It fooled me into thinking it was a permanent sort of adhesive... I quit trying out of concern I was about to tear something. That helps though so thank you...

Any idea if the foam is same in terms of firmness for both the Expy as the Navi? I am sure it would be the same shape and would work... Any subtle differences would be offset by the cheaper cost and wouldn't be noticeable visually speaking.

The cheapest I have found this has been for several hundred but I feel like a little resourcefulness and creativity can save me some $$$.

Also... Do you have a link to the 'Parts Guy Ed' website?

Not really... I think I am going to replace the frame, or at least the track as I have noticed a bit of play in it as well. Again, super fat dude theory. My 75 f100 isnt even worn like this.

My attention, as far as this vehicle has been more on freshening up driven train issues. For instance, all four rotors had a bit of warpage. Although it had brand new firestone tires installed when I purchased it, I think the dealer cut corners on the balance so I had this addressed also. The ride is so much better without all the drivetrain vibration. There are a few other little things on the outside, the biggest being the air suspension compressor, and a few minor leaks that need addressed, then on to the interior.

I like to keep my vehicles in tip top shape but can only do one thing at a time.

I think i found a solution!

This guy cuts the effected area only and I'd imagine this to work out great. He also backs the affected area with vinyl to sheild against future wear.

I am probably gonna go new... Tired of dealing with patchwork and used parts. Sometimes it makes sense but it seems that lots of time after going out and pulling the part and cleaning it up, or hunting it down on ebay or elsewhere and dealing with shipping, that it would have been cheaper just to get it from the dealer where is was made specifically for the application and you know it will work exactly as it should.
