hey my 302 small block was rebuilt in the late 90s by a reputable mechanic but when im driving along at 60 or 70 kmph and floor it; it bogs down and sounds like its going to shut off. Any ideas on how to solve this?

 

Well, I could suggest several things, but they'd all be based on lots of speculation built on guesses. We need to know a lot more about what you have before we go down that road. For instance, what carb are you running? 2bbl? 4bbl? Holley? Motorcraft/Holley? If you don't know then just pull the air cleaner and take a picture of the carb and post it.

 

Its a 4 barrel ford carb

 

Autolite/Holley then, a 4180. Sounds like the secondary bowl is dry so when the throttles open only air goes in - no fuel. If it has plugs on the bowl pull the plug and check for fuel. Otherwise, pull the bowl off and see if there is fuel in it.
