I've posted this in the brake and steering forum, but have not had any hits so far. I have a 79 F350 with a 460, a nv4500 transmission, np205 transfer case, a Dana 60 front axle and a Dana 70 rear axle from a 1983 F250 with an 8800 GVWR. The problem I'm having is the rear drum brakes will not stay adjusted up. My parking brake cables work and are hooked up, and I seem to have return spring failures on a regular basis even though I use a new hardware kit when I replace the brake shoes. I would like to use a rear disc brake setup, but I want to use Ford parts. My question is; did Ford ever have a rear disc setup on a Dana 70? My truck has single rear wheels. The other question is what year model and was it an F series truck of is it a E series van? Thanks.
He said he wanted to use ford parts. Probably not relevant in the big picture since most of the drivetrain parts for vehicles are not made be the automaker.
Thanks for the replies. I have thought about the Dodge parts because it is a Dana axle, I was hoping that there were some Ford parts that I have'nt thought of. Thanks for all your help.
