Shift collar broken 1991 F350 Diesel
Key lock cylinder does not push the rod to the igniton switch to the "start" position. New cylinder lock and ignition switch (1 year old). Something has given out in the shift collar. I can crank the engine by putting the key in the "run" position and manually pushing the rod down to the "start" position. I actually have not let it start. There is a disconnect between the rod and the cylinder lock. It appears to be in the shift collar.
I have removed the steering column, turn signal assembly and dropped the column from the dash. I am now looking at the top of the shift collar and not sure how to remove it. How can I do this? Is this thing repairable/replaceable?
I hooked the pontoon to the truck yesterday morning and pulled it down to the apron in front of the garage. After cleaning/packing the boat the truck would not turn over. It was locked in "park". After jiggling it and repeatedly turning the key it came out of park. The "lock" position no longer locks.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Friz

Work around
A little disappointed I haven't gotten any help but such is life. Thought about it and came up with a work around which may be of value to someone else.
I bought a $11 brass button switch from Advance Auto. I pulled the "starter" lead from the ignition switch on the column and connected it to one side of the button switch I bought. Ran/connected 12v to the other side if the button switch. I drilled a hole and mounted the switch just below the "Overdrive" switch and indicator. All that shows is a 1/2" black button. Looks like it came from the factory that way. To start the chugger I turn the key to the "run" position, let the glow plugs time out and press the button switch. Starts every time.

This is a thread I had over on another forum. Steve83 has some great info on fixing this. Don't know if your column is exactly the same, but it will be close.
