87 F-350 Where is the neutral safety switch?

My father in laws truck will not turn over unless I jump the starter selenoid. I pulled off the two wires going to it and neither of them are hot. So working backwards, I figure it has to be either the switch or the neutral safety switch.
I thought I would start with the neutral safety switch, but I don't know where it is located on this truck and what is the easiest and best way to access it.

Of course if you have any other suggestions as to why he is not getting power to the selenoid, I am listening.

Thank you

manual trans it is on the top of the clutch pedal.
auto trans it is behind the shifter linkage on the side of the trans.
you problem could also be a bad ignition actuator in the column. common problem with these trucks.

nope it is in the top of the column and connects the key cylinder to a rod that runs down the column to the switch.

Just looking at another post with ignition problems. Here is a post I used to fix the actuator on my 1986

1983 Ford Bronco Diagrams picture | SuperMotors.net

Gives a good description of how to get the column apart to get to the actuator.
