Question about 4.9L Intake Manifold Gakets

I've got a question about intake manifold gaskets on a 96 F150 4.9L

I understand that the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold share the same gasket where it mounts to the block. Is this true?

Here's the image from Fel-Pro (P/N: MS 93837).

In the picture above, the upper gasket is the "Upper Intake Manifold Gasket?" The combination intake and exhaust gasket is the lower one?

I found another Fel-Pro kit that says it includes both the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets (P/N MS 95647).

In the picture above, the top gasket I recognize. But what's the bottom gasket used for? It looks like it may go over the combination intake/exhaust gasket?

The lower one is what seals the Intake to the Head.

The upper one is what seals the upper and lower portions of the runners together.

The first pic I'm not really sure on the years, but the second one is the EFI Manifold version.

The first pic kinda looks like the old log style exhaust manifold version.

Those are the correct gaskets. Which gasket kit you need depends on what
you're doing. The cost of the combo gasket kit is almost double.

If you're only removing the upper or upper and lower intake manifold, use MS95647.

If you're removing both upper and lower intake manifolds and the exhaust manifolds
and reusing the original exhaust manifolds you would use MS93837.

From the factory, no gasket was used for the exhaust manifold to the head.

Here is what is stated in the service manual.

Note: Combination intake/exhaust gasket is not to be used on a new exhaust manifold. Gasketing of the exhaust manifold is only recommended when the original exhaust manifold is reinstalled, in order to prevent leakage.

If you are replacing the exhaust manifolds with new ones you would use MS95647. You could us MS93837 which is more expensive but Ford doesn't recommend it when using new exhaust manifolds.

For a new exhaust manifold: Coat the mating surfaces lightly with Steering
Gear Grease C3AZ-19578-A or equivalent graphite grease. Place the manifold assemblies
in position against the cylinder head. Tighten the bolts and nuts on intake and exhaust manifolds to 22-32 ft. lbs.
