08 SD diff cover and vss questions

Ok I'm getting ready to inspect the tone ring in the rear diff that the vss reads off of. What do I need to look for I just replaced the CSS with abrand new ford one. And had issues again yesterday with the shifting it pulled the vss error code again wiring is fine to vss.

I decided to upgrade diff cover while I'm at it

Help on this would be appreciated

Check for any chipped teeth in the tone ring. Also make sure its clean. You'll see it and understand when you get in there. As far as a diff cover, I bought one from riffraff, spendy. There are a LOT of aftermarket covers, pick what you like and buy it. If you happen to buy one that has an oring seal, don't just trust the oring to seal. Ask me how I know...

Is it an OEM gasket? If so is it reusable?

So could just bad diff fluid cause a vss reading error just everyonce in awhile its only done it twice and it stops when I shut off the truck and restart it. I'm really hoping its just fluid cause if tone ring needs replaced that just sounds expensive
