This shows a long stem thermostat in a water pump that needs a short stem thermostat.

I'm not sure but would guess the coolant would bypass the thermostat making the thermostat ineffective.

They say the 6.0 fan moves more air but I haven't seen much difference. It does weigh less which isn't as hard on your water pump. You can put the 6.0 fan on your clutch.

Don't know for a fact but have read the rear cylinders will overheat.

Just wondering, do you have to remove the whole housing to get the thermostat out? Or is it simpler than that?

You just remove the water outlet from the pump housing and you can take the thermostat out.

This was the problem I found when I bought my truck. It would never warm up as the short thermostat couldn't reach it's sealing surface. Replaced with the correct lenght and it warms up a lot quicker now.
