I sort of cheaped out at first, after having my 292 rebuilt - and slapped a junkbox carb on . That was a mistake. A few years ago I bought a new 2 bl. Holley, and worth every penny. I ditched the oil bath, too. Just not convenient, and messy.

I have a 64 with a 292 and got rebuilt C3TF 9510-H (j for automatics) off E-bay for ~$175 with no core charge. This is the original part number and it has the manual choke. I wanted the manual choke but any Autolite/Motorcraft 2100 with 1 7/16 bore and 1.028 venturi should work. I live in South Texas so the choke is hardly used. I use an aftermarket dry filter, I think they about ~$25 at the parts store.

PM if you want to get rid of your oil bath filter. I am looking for one to convert to a dry filter. There are several threads on converting oil baths to dry filters if you are interested in doing so.
