My 1997 F150 has wrong transmission
Hi All -- I'm a newbie (but I've been a guest for years).
Here's my issue: everything I've read says my 1997 4x4 three-door should have a 20-bolt E4OD tranny. The door plate code is a "U" for a 4R70W. That's OK, I guess. It's an early model, built in Norfolk in 3/97, and has the 4.6 L "W" engine.
However, when I go under and count the bolts, it only has 14, and looks like some sort of AOD_ ??? [I bought this truck new.]
Anyone have a clue?

OK, I think I have the answer -- the tranny IS a 4R70W, and the parts houses were sending me to the wrong link.
