Shocks for lifted truck
Hello,
I am getting ready to replace my upper ball joints since they are squeaking non stop and the boots are torn. While in the process I figure I would change out the front shocks. The truck is a 99 f150 4 wheel drive. It has a torsion bar and block lift for 6 inches and 35 inch tires. This was how I bought the truck. I believe it has the stock shocks on it. Also the front has a triple shock setup but I am only replacing the main shocks. Should I go with a longer shock? The truck is always on pavement and not offroad. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something basic. Right now the truck rides real stiff, I may take the extra shocks off the front.
Thank you

Just a comment.
With a 6" lift the stock shocks in their stock location could not possibly have enough extension travel to handle all the normal lifted suspension travel unless either top or bottom mounting had been relocated, then I would still not trust them to have enough 'travel'.
With 3 shocks the truck was set up to go off road for some serious back country running.
Why would you want to buy a truck lifted like this for non off road use with the expense of the shocks, tires, suspension, less fuel mileage etc. ?
Good luck.

I've never heard or seen a triple shock setup on a torsion bar vehicle. I would be curious to see how it was fabricated. Post some pics of the front end if you get a chance. Personally I think Rancho RS5000s are a pretty good deal. I got a set of 4 from 4wheelparts for about $160, that's NOT including the $50 mail-in rebate I forgot to do.
