I wonder if some beastly rare earth magnets would hold it steady.

Bjorn,

take a look at any newer model car and you will find metal or plastic door trim clips, your upholsterer should have them by the thousands. If your fitting your own trim panels before going to the upholstery shop just get some from a dealer i.e. ford, VW, Audi, Mercedes etc. Hope that helps John

Bjorn . I apologize but I can't get computer to spell your name properly . This is a bit off topic so I apologize for that as well . Wy family and I will be in the Netherlands next week to visit my wife's uncles great uncles grave at the Canadian War Graves Cemetary at Holten . I will also be visiting some of the boys from my Dad's Regiment (49th Loyal Edmonton Regiment) that did not make it home . Could you please arrange for nice weather as my wife plans to pipe at the grave site .

Hey Bjorn, some custom shops use Velcro with self-adhesive backing. Maybe a strip in the corners and another in between the corners should be enough to hold the panels on. The nice thing is, they can be removed easily and no holes in the door or panel. Good Luck

Now that's a good idea. The trip clips require drilling a hole in the door and they don;t seem to work all the great on oem panels. You might try 3m dual lock - that stuff is really strong.
