I have a 1966 f250 2wd, and a 1979 f150 4wd. I would like to put the 66 body on the 79 frame and running gear. I know that you can cut out a small section of frame behind the cab on a 79, and shorten the frame so the wheel on the 66 bed line up proper with the 79 rear end. My problem is that my 79 is a short box. Can the frame on my 79 be lengthened in the same area to get the same results.

Of course it could be done but it would have to be done by someone with welding/fabrication skills.

Considering long beds are easier to find than short beds I would just start with a long bed frame if I were you.

You could probably find someone with a long bed frame who would be more than happy to trade you.

 

There is a fellow FTE'er that put a 1966 long bed 2wd on a 80's something BRONCO frame, so it can be done.

I have seen it in person and his fab work is amazing. His user name is earthquake68, PM him and get the information.
