Does this sound right to you?
Not sure if I'm making a mistake anywhere, but I drove up to Bowling Green, OH from Dayton, OH tonight and was calculating my fuel mileage. Before leaving, I filled up and topped off by rounding up to the next dollar if over $xx.50, or to the next half dollar if over $xx.00 (so within $0.50 per top off, if that makes sense). I reset my trip odometer at the pump.
Drove up to Bowling Green and topped off using the same method when I arrived. The fill up, including top off was 5.48 gallons. The mileage on the odometer was 133.9mi. After doing the math, that means that my 2000 V10 averaged 24.4mpg. That doesn't even seem right. I was cruising at 67mph, with the exception of a couple 55mph construction zones. My speedometer is not off, and I verified it with the speedometer on my GPS, my trip odometer is not off, because it's about ~130 miles from Dayton to BG.
Does anyone know how this is possible, or am I just making some error somewhere that I"m not seeing?
Just for kicks, here is the receipt from the fill up (and yes, gas really was $3.09 )

What's the elevation change between the two, or did you do a return trip to "even" it out? Just curious if it's alot of downhill in that direction.
Not sayin' it didn't happen (I calc'ed the same as you guys did) but I know I never saw anything close to that on my 2000 (I was the original owner) and am far from it on my '11 too.

With a difference that large, naturally I suspected a miscalculation. But I try to fill up the same way every time and remove as many variables as possible to get the most accurate figures. Maybe the atmospheric conditions and ambient temp. And traffic were just right to give that huge gain. Who knows. But I don't expect to see that kind of number again.

Yeah, my gauge goes to full (past "F") well before it's done drinking, the EX has a 44 gallon tank, I think you had an early pump shutoff. I would try to duplicate it on the ride back and see how that comes out, you may see a calculated 5 MPG on the return leg. Of course I hope you have a freak V-10 and really did pull down that kind of mileage but I doubt it.
